The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wildmade a huge impression on Nintendo Switch players in 2017. Since then, fans have been eagerly awaiting a sequel. Players were treated to a trailer of aBreath of the Wildsequel in June and now a fan has created a stunning recreation/demake with Nintendo 64’s graphic capabilities. YouTube user The Regressor created a remake of the trailer which is exactly the same as the original bar the graphics.
The trailer will bring back memories ofOcarina of Timewith sharp cuboids that really highlight how much graphics have progressed in the last twenty years. Labeled as an E3 1999 trailer to be released on the Nintendo 64, the images sync up perfectly with the original. The trailer has been rendered to 280p and has 15-18 frames per second. Despite this, the mysterious green spirals are just as scary and the trailer racks up the suspense much like the original. With graphics similar to that of the games at the turn of the millennium, this trailer will be sure to spark fan debates aboutwhich is actually betterBreath of the WildorOcarina of Time.

The video has comments claiming the demake is creepier than the original trailer and requesting more of this content. The video closes with the announcement that the game ‘is not in development’ which is a great detail, although some will wish aZeldagame with these graphics would be made again.
While rough cuboid graphics are thankfully a thing of the past, it is really impressive to see the shine of contemporary trailers taken away to what they once were. With many fans waiting in suspense for more information about theBreath of the Wildsequel andspeculating about Zant’s return, this is a great distraction. For many, it’ll be hard to topBreath of the Wildbut the graphics will surely live up to its predecessor, and may even exceed them.
