Generally speaking,Twitchdoesn’t often make headlines for heartwarming stories, but when the streaming company does, it is a testament to how tightly-knit the gaming community can be. One recent example is the story of streamer JesseDStreams who managed to fall asleep with0 viewers to wake up to a 200-strong chat, earning himself 1,000 followers in the process. Now, the latest feelgood story revolves around a generous donation to a young streamer.
It appears that Snailboii808 was playingPortal 2and asking for donations for a VR Headset. At the time of the generous donation, Snailboii808 had raised $5 of the $400 he was requesting before receiving a generous donation of $345. This generosity clearly overcame the young Twitch streamer, who was moved to tears by the donation, which came from a viewer known as binarypower. This viewer’s motives are unknown at this time, but it seems like a random act of human kindness, which is good to see coming from the sometimestoxic gaming community.
Not only did binarypower’s donation get SnailBoii’s percentage over 80%, but it also skyrocketed his views on the Twitch channel. Prior uploads by Snailboii were nowhere near as close as this clip, with around 100 views as the average. But this clip of the generous donation has hit 35.6 thousand views at the time of this writing, blowing Snailboii’s previous clips out of the water.
Whether or not this growth remains consistent and strong remains to be seen, but for wholesome reasons, SnailBoii’s has enjoyed his time in the spotlight. What may help this growth, however, is theTwitchstreamer’s screen name, as many Redditors posted #snailgang on this clip. This may have been beneficial to the now nearly 7,000 follower-strong channel that SnailBoii runs.
All things considered, many gamers would likely love to see more stories like this come out of the woodwork, asTwitchoften finds itself surrounded in controversy. Perhaps the latest controversy is thebanning of deadmau5, but at the very least, there are also good stories coming from the streaming service as well.
