Frostpunk 2 Is Day-One On Game Pass In September
A High-Profile Management Sim
Frostpunk 2holds a novel position somewhere between a city builder, a strategy game, a management sim, and a survival game. While it does follow the first game chronologically,a prologue inFrostpunk 2effectively lets you bypass playing the original gamewhile still establishing New London’s identity, making it perfect for jumping into via Game Pass Ultimate when it arrives day one on September 18.
Frostpunk 2made our reviewer evil, forcing them to make morally challenging decisions in the course of seeking the city’s survival. Throughout the game you’ll build new districts, acquire resources, and attempt to stave off the discontent of the citizenry while you try tosurvive the next whiteout. TheFrostpunkseries has made a name for itself as a survival-adjacent city builder, being quite difficultto manage while working toward your goals.
Frostpunk 2 Is A Highly-Anticipated Sequel
Another PC-First Release
As a strategy game,Frostpunk 2understandably came to PC first (just like its predecessor), but that has only increased the anticipation for its console release. While it clearly bears many similarities to the original,Frostpunk 2does make some bold changes. Most notably, instead of building individual buildings like inFrostpunk, the sequel focuses on larger districts, which provides a new sense of scale to the scenario.
But the overarching ideas are much the same – the cold must be kept at bay while keeping discontent from mounting. For fans who have been patiently waiting,Frostpunk 2’s console release comes with physical editions, including the Icebreaker Edition, which has an artbook/novella and a New London pop-up diorama, and the Whiteout Edition, with a large variety of collectibles. Neither, however, grants the convenience of playing it day one onXbox Game Pass.
