Theraids inWorld of Warcrafthave been an undying pillar of its endgame, but Mythic dungeons have slowly crept into the spotlight over the years, offering an alternative way to pursue challenging content. Introduced initially inMists of Pandariaas Challenge Mode dungeons, Mythic Plus has since evolved into a well-oiled machine, boasting official esports tournaments and a legitimate way to obtain some of the best loot in the game.

Dragonflightis about to change Mythic dungeonseven further when Mythic Season 1 starts on December 12 and the first raid of the expansion, Vault of the Incarnates, opens its doors to the players. Perhaps the biggest change to the schedule is that December 12 will see all three raid difficulties open for the new raid simultaneously, forgoing the tradition of Mythic and Raid Finder opening a week later. The Raid Finder version of the raid will unlock across three separate wings at a staggered pace, opening on December 19, January 2, and January 16.
Cross-faction Mythic raiding will be available to groups from the get-go, but for the sake of fairness, Blizzard has stated that Hall of Fame entries will only be eligible if their group is comprised out of a faction majority (at least 16 out of 20 players). MostWorld of Warcraftcross-faction playerswould argue that this is a fair compromise, especially since the upper echelon of raiders is no stranger to changing their character race just to gain an edge.
The changes coming toDragonflight’s first Mythic dungeon season are a direct continuation of the format seen inShadowlandsSeason 4. Half of the featured dungeons will come from the new expansion, and half will be returning from past expansions. The dungeons that will come back forDragonflightSeason 1 are Halls of Valor (Legion), Court of Stars (Legion), Shadowmoon Burial Grounds (Warlords of Draenor), and Temple of the Jade Serpent (Mists of Pandaria).
In terms of Mythic Plus affixes,World of Warcraftwill be introducing a new one into the mix withDragonflight, while removing Necrotic and Inspiring. As opposed to earlier raid tiers, Mythic Plus rewards won’t be item level-capped in the first week, given that the Mythic version of the raid opens at the same time. The second half ofDragonflight’s dungeons will be released with its second Mythic dungeon season, upon which it will be accompanied by its own set of returning dungeons.
