Warlocks are one ofWorld of Warcraft’s most iconic classes, embodied by infamous characters like the orc Gul’dan. Countless players have chosen the warlock as their preferred class due to its flavor, power, and utilities that no other class can offer. But with the next content update inWorld of Warcraft: Dragonflight, warlock players will have even more to celebrate.
Fractures in Time is the name of the nextWorld of Warcraftupdate and revolves around the Infinite Dragonflight. A whole host of awesome changes are coming, including the much-awaited expansion of Dragonriding into areas outside the Dragon Isles. All players will benefit significantly from Fractures in Time’s gifts, but warlock players in particular will get two features they have been wanting for years.

World of Warcraft’s Warlocks Are Getting More Races and Pet Customizations
While there is no official release date for the Fractures in Time update, it’s unlikely to be a long wait. One ofWorld of Warcraft: Dragonflight’s greatest strengthsis its prompt release schedule, dropping content like hotcakes for players to munch on. Thus, these small but significant changes to the warlock class are likely only weeks away.
The most profound Fractures in Time change Blizzard has announced is coming to warlock involves their expansion into races that previously could not be that class. Lore-wise, some races have an innate cultural aversion to getting cozy with demons and fel energy, as that’s pretty much what defines a warlock. Races like the Tauren, Draenei, and Pandaren would not typically be free to take this path, but truthfully, being a warlock is technically considered unsavory by most races, humans included.
With this in mind, and taking into account that any individual of even the most demon-adverse race could have made the decision to forsake their own people’s norms, it seems perfectly reasonable to extend the warlock to all races. The Fractures in Time update will extend the warlock class to theseallied races inWorld of Warcraft: Kul Tiran humans, Mag’har orcs, Zandalari Trolls, Highmountain Tauren, and Lightforged Draenei, while also expanding to include the Night Elf, Tauren, Pandaren, and Draenei core races.
Some of these races becoming warlocks seems particularly sacrilegious, such as withWorld of Warcraft’s Draenei, given their dedication to the Light and millennia-long war with the Burning Legion. However, it also opens up a particularly intriguing role-playing opportunity. The Eredar are a race of fel-corrupted Draenei who are embodied by characters such as Kil’Jaeden and Archimonde.
They mostly have red skin, while female Eredar even have wings. While those particular customizations might be a long way off, simply being a Draenei warlock opens the door for many exciting role-playing stories. What’s more, warlocks will soon be able to take their pets into the Barbershop with them.
The last Barbershop update that was this mouth-watering was one which gave druids the ability to choose how all their individual shape-shift forms appeared. Now, it’s the warlocks’ turn to choose exactly how their pets appear, picking their chosen preferred look for their imp, void-walker, succubus and fel-hound.World of Warcraft’s Warlock petshave been notoriously rigid in personalization prior to now, so this is a big and much-desired change.
One extra present from Blizzard is a newwarlock-exclusive adventure inWorld of Warcraftthat starts with the quest ‘Beginning Impositions’ and rewards players with a new imp pet customization. This will also naturally apply to the aforementioned Barbershop update, giving players yet another choice for their pets. If there is one thing that is always received well by players, it’s the ability to control and customize the way they experience the game in as many ways are possible, and these warlock updates are no exception.
