The Souls-like genre has been closely associated with Sony andPlayStationfor many years.Demon’s Souls and Bloodborne, regarded by many as the best Souls games, are still only available on PlayStation consoles despite the rumors of a PC release. The PlayStation versions of theNiohfranchise are also published by Sony, and they were only released on PC after a set period.Shuhei Yoshida, Head of Independent Developer Initiative at Sony Interactive Entertainment, is known for hislove for the Souls-like genre. He announced bothBloodborneand theDemon’s Soulsremake, at E3 2014 and PlayStation Showcase 2020 respectively. Now, it looks like Shuhei Yoshida is playing an unreleased Souls-like game, and fans are speculating about what it could be.RELATED:Skyrim Player Uses Mods to Make the Game Like Dark SoulsShuhei Yoshida recently Tweeted a list of the last 5 games he played. It includes the recently releasedHorizon Forbidden West,Genshin Impact, andSifu. The bottom two games are only listed as “unreleased puzzle action”, and “unreleased Soulslike”. At first glance, many people probably assumed the final game to beElden Ring, which comes out in less than a week, but Yoshida then clarified thatthe unreleased Souls-like is notElden Ring.

Some fans in the replies are trying to guess the names of the final two games, while others are sharing their own lists. A lot of names are being thrown, includingStranger of Paradiseand a supposed remaster ofBloodborne. Other fans are asking about his experience withSifuandGenshin Impact.

The genre is too vast and popular now, with many games getting released every year. Yoshida could just bereferring toSalt and Sacrifice, a 2D Souls-like game that comes out on March 10, instead of a specific AAA title. Alternatively, it could also beLies of P, the upcoming Souls-like title inspired by Pinocchio. Given its history, Sony is probably working on a game in this genre in some form, but this Tweet could be referring to any one of the many Souls-like games coming to PlayStation.

Rumors for aBloodborneremasterand a PC port have been circulating for quite some time now. Similar rumors suggest thatBloodborne 2is also in development, and there is little doubt that Sony is interested in investing heavily into this genre. Sony acquired Bluepoint Games, the team behind the stunningDemon’s Soulsremake, last year and the chances of at least one Souls-like game being in development at PlayStation are pretty high.
