Wednesday Season 2 Reveals Augustus Stonehearst Was Nevermore’s First Normie Teacher, Not Marilyn Thornhill

Wednesdayseason 2, part 1, introduces some fascinating lore to the world of Netflix’sAddams Familyreboot with the character Augustus Stonehearst. Augustus was the director of the Willow Hill Psychiatric Hospital long before Dr. Rachel Fairburn took over, and he became one of the facility’s patients.

However, even before Stonehearst was working onthe L.O.I.S. project, he was a science teacher at Nevermore Academy. As a normie, his time with the outcasts was spent obsessing over them and being frustrated with his lack of powers, leading him to begin experimenting on human beings, including his daughter Judi.

Previously, we were led to believe that Marilyn Thornhill was Nevermore’s first normie teacher. This is what Larissa Weems said in season 1, although she evidently had motivations of her own. The controversy surrounding Stonehearst is something the school would want to hide, but it’s still a curious thing to bring up.

Another possibility is that Thornhill was actually there before Stonehearst, and that he came and went sometime during her tenure. It’s unclear how long ago either of them began teaching at the school, but it’s possibleWednesdaycould elaborate on this in the future. The reason Weems lied about it could be relevant.

Nevermore’s Only Two Normie Teachers Have Terrorized Outcasts

As we all know, Marilyn Thornhill was behind the murders in season 1, which were connected to fulfilling Joseph Crackstone’s mission against outcasts. She even went as far as manipulating, capturing, and torturing Tyler Galpin to bring out his Hyde form, creating a terrifying villain.

Augustus Stonehurst ran the L.O.I.S. project to extract outcasts' powers to give himself and Normies abilities, creating an evident parallel between the characters. This also creates a parallel between Tyler and Judi, both of whom areWednesdayvillains capable of terrible things despite being victims of a cruel experiment.
