TheWednesdayseason 2 trailer teases a dark Enid Sinclair (Emma Myers) twist that I did not expect. In season 1, Enid is the roommate of Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) at Nevermore Academy. Enid’s cheerful personality and her colorful fashion are a stark juxtaposition to Wednesday’s dour personality and all-black wardrobe. Despite their differences, the two characters become close friends, and their bond is the highlight in many ofWednesday’s best episodes.

After a three-year hiatus,Wednesdayseason 2is set to return in two parts, with the first releasing on August 6. Enid remains at the forefront ofWednesday’s cast of charactersasshe and Wednesday begin a new year of friendship and rooming together at Nevermore Academy. While their friendship will be important and continue to grow, the season 2 trailer hints that their relationship will be affected by a dark twist that will define the new season.

Wednesday Season 2’s Teaser Trailer Hints Enid Will Be A Villain

Their Relationship Takes A Dark Turn

The trailer emphasizes that the creepy dolls will be one of the main threats in season 2 and that Enid is connected to them. Shortly after showing Wednesday gagged, bloodied, and surrounded by the dolls, there is a shot of her handing one of them to Enid. When Enid sees Wednesday handing her the doll, she immediately stops smiling. She has a nervous reaction and admits that the doll is creepy, but that its hair is"super soft,“only for Wednesday to point out that this is because it is made from real human hair.

At the end of the trailer, it looks like Enid is the individual trapped behind the bars that Wednesday is standing in front of as she says,“I do my best work in the dark.“These shots indicate that, despite their history together,Enid may try to hurt or even kill Wednesday in season 2. This is a shocking turn of events after all the progress they made in season 1, and Enid is the last character I would have expected to become a villain.

Is Enid Being Manipulated By Season 2’s New Main Villain To Try To Kill Wednesday?

Something Sinister May Have Happened To Enid Between Seasons 1 & 2

Enid seems very different from her season 1 character for most of the trailer. The Enid of season 1 would not have been interested in a creepy doll made with real human hair. It is possible that afterWednesdayseason 1’s endingand during the summer away from Nevermore Academy, a new villain got to Enid and is manipulating her through supernatural means. This would explain why Enid is acting differently and why she would suddenly turn on Wednesday.

As Wednesday’s roommate and best friend, Enid has a unique proximity to the titular character. A new villain could take advantage of this anduse Enid to try and harm Wednesday and the Addams family. The scene in the trailer where the doll is handed to Enid already shows that Wednesday thinks something is off about her friend. This hopefully means that Wednesday can realize that it is not the real Enid going after her, and that she can find a way to save her friend before it is too late inWednesdayseason 2.
