TheGears of War: Reloadedbeta period has been extended for this weekend, and one of the most popular classic modes will also now be available for play. Last weekend’sbeta test forReloadedwas rough, with the game plagued by connection issues, especially on Friday, right as the beta went live. With that, fans started to ask for additional playtime for this weekend’s upcoming beta test, and those requests have now been answered and then some, with additional content that most players weren’t expecting.

According to a post from the officialGears of WarX account, the beta will now run fromFriday, June 20 at 9 a.m. EST/noon PST to Sunday, June 22 at midnight EST/9 p.m. PST, giving players an extra few hours on Sunday over last weekend’s beta period, with the X post telling fans"we heard you,“in response to fan requests for a beta extension due to server issues last Friday. This weekend’s beta test will also now include an additional mode: Execution, which has been added to the Competitive playlist. Finally, the Canals map has been added, which was not part of the original beta maps.

What To Expect From The Next Gears Of War Beta

Different Maps, More Modes, A New Playlist

This weekend’s beta will use the same downloaded app that the first test did, so if fans already have it downloaded, once the update is applied, they can hop back in without a lengthy download. The first beta only offered Team Deathmatch as the sole game mode, along with three maps: Gold Rush, Raven Down, and the fan-favorite Gridlock. Thenew beta test is much more substantial, though, with there being three modes available, including Team Deathmatch again, King of the Hill, and the newly announced Execution.

Reloadedis essentially a remaster ofGears of War: Ultimate Edition, which was also a remaster of the firstGoWgame and a game many of us have played, makingReloadedfeel very familiar. The beta does feature crossplay and cross-progression, so fans on Xbox and PC can play with PlayStation 5 users for the first time, asReloadedis the firstGearsgame to appear on Sony’s console. All the game modes and maps in the upcoming beta test are listed below, divided between the two playlists:

Our Take: The Developers Are Listening, And That Is Great

More Time To Test The Game’s Servers

Additional playtime for fans and more data for developers isa win-win for everyone in a beta test. That approach allows fans to try and find and report as many issues as possible, and for developers to test the stability of the servers and listen to player feedback for additional changes before the game’s official launch. While the gameplay is mostly identical toUltimate Edition,Reloadeddoes have notable changeson the technical side of things, like native 4K resolution and 120 FPS in multiplayer.

Hopefully, this next test works better than last weekend’s, and fans enjoy playing a sneak peek of the game, especially if they’re on PS5 and this is their firstGearsgame.Gears of War: Reloadedisn’t going to redefineGears, but it may remind everyone of what made the game so special back in 2006, and putGearson everyone’s minds again beforeGears of War: E-Dayreleases next year.
