Vis a reboot of the 1983 miniseries of the same name, which involves a seemingly benevolent race of aliens arriving on Earth, secretly trying to gain control over the planet. The 2009 series offered the same premise, withMorena Baccarin’s Annaleading the alien race. While the show earned somewhat favorable reviews, it was cancelled after season 2.
The show’s sudden appearance on iTunes VOD charts is surprising, especially given how divisive the series was. When it first aired, many critics interpreted the show as critique of US President Barack Obama’s administration due to perceptions about how the aliens were portrayed. Its plot also veered away from ideas in the original miniseries, making it more controversial story-wise.
