The winter 2021 anime title,To Your Eternity,isreturning for a second seasonand there are a few changes going into it. A new trailer in anticipation of the new season has been released, revealing the staff who will be involved in the project.

The short trailer showed never-before-seen snippets of what is to come, with a voice-over by the main character Fushi who reveals his desire to live away from people and never interact with them again. The continuation of theanime adaptation of Yoshitaki Oima’s fantasy mangawill have a different director and animation studio compared to the first season.

The first season ofTo Your Eternitywas directed by Masahiko Murata and animated by Brain Base, but the following season will be in the care of Kiyoko Sayama, who was also involved in the direction ofSkip Beat!.The director change is the only staff change from the previous season. The new studio involved in the project is Studio Drive, which was established in 2015 and handled the adaptation of thelegendary Junji Ito horror title,Uzumaki.

The series continues the journey of Fushi, an immortal being created by a strange entity to collect various experiences. His journey begins as a white orb, which is capable of taking on the forms of beings and objects that stimulate it. The first season ofTo Your Eternityran for 20 episodes in winter 2021, and the second season is set to arrive in Fall 2022.

Fans will be excited to see the return of Fushi after thedramatic and heart-rending conclusionto the first season. There are some clues regarding Fushi’s current outlook in the short announcement trailer, and it would appear that the immortal is facing wounds of the emotional kind.

The announcement of a change in director could be in reaction to the nature of the main character’s journey from here on out. The previous season ended with an interesting time-skip, in which a different-looking but familiar Fushi makes an appearance. Regardless of the motivations, this will bring a different tone to the series, as has happened to various other anime series before; however,To Your Eternity Fansmay just be excited nonetheless.
