While it may not be the oldest currently airing soap opera out there, CBS’The Young and the Restlesshas been the undisputed champion of daytime ratings for literal decades, and there are reasons for that, with this week’s offering being a perfect example of why it has had such staying power. The Young and the Restlessand its casthave maintained their staying power thanks to the long-established fanbase and engaging storylines.

Those storylines have remained engaging as the soap opera has had an uncanny ability to evolve with the times and incorporate modern stories and sensibilities. Its adaptability ensures it succeeds where other soaps have floundered. Take this week’s ongoing Aristotle Dumas storyline, for example. The mysterious businessman has been pulling strings for months, and the current storyline of the characters being brought to his French estate and forced to participate in games taps into the current revival of the mystery genre. The Mystery Continues For The Genoa City Guests At Aristotle Dumas' French Estate

While the synopses for each episode this week are short and sweet as always, they still give us a glimpse at what we can expect. The big event will happen in Friday’s episode, when Aristotle Dumas is supposedly finally going to reveal himself. Will it be a shocking revelation or a letdown? After so many months of wondering, we have to hope thatThe Young and the Restlesscan back up the stakes of the long-building story with this week’s reveal. Here are the episode synopses for this week:

What Big Storyline We’re Following This Week

Aristotle Dumas' Identity Will Finally Be Revealed

While the other storylines are still important, clearly, the one we’re all paying most attention to is the Aristotle Dumas storyline. The wealthy and mysterious tycoon has been a major player in the series for the past six months, impacting multiple characters and influencing storylines. Still, the true identity of the magnate has remained a significant question mark for over half a year. Now that his identity is set to be revealed this week as the big Genoa City players meet their benefactor in Nice, France, it will answer so many of our questions - but undoubtedly open the door to so many more.

How This Sets Up Next Week’s The Young & The Restless

There Will Be Fallout From The Aristotle Reveal - And Mariah Coming Clean To Tessa

The reveal of Aristotle Dumas on Friday won’t be the end of his whole story, but merely the beginning. Having become such an integral character, even with his identity being anonymous, he’s likely to still factor into the events of the show for quite some time moving forward. Beyond that, there will definitely be fallout from the reveal, especially when the guests learn how he’s connected to Amanda (Mishael Morgan). It was revealed last month that she’s his corporate lawyer, but it would appear there’s more to the story than we and the guests realize.

Not everyone from Genoa City is currently embroiled in Aristotle Dumas' games in France. Elsewhere, one major couple’s relationship is set to come to a head this week: Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) and Mariah (Camryn Grimes). The two have not been in a good way for a while, with Mariah keeping her secret from Tessa leading her to become arguably verbally abusive and increasing the tension in their marriage. If she finally comes clean this week, then it will undoubtedly be a make-or-break point for their relationship and next week should see them either working to repair it with a clean slate - or heading for a divorce.

Of course, withThe Young and the Restlessmoving fast, as all soap operas do, it’s almost impossible to know what storylines will be birthed with Friday’s episode. There are other smaller storylines that are ongoing, such as Daniel (Michael Graziadei) still trying to get his act together, Kyle (Michael Mealor) continuing to be a “nepo baby,” as Audra (Zuleyka Silver) called him, Adam (Mark Grossman) and Chelsea’s (Melissa Claire Egan) tumultuous relationship, and more. But with Dumas now being a major player, it’s certain that next week will see things shaken up in a big way.
