After last week’sThe Young and the Restless, this week promises that more lines in the sand will be crossed, both professionally, personally, and even romantically. The action is finally starting to pick up again in Genoa City after weeks of dropping those storylines to focus exclusively onthe Aristotle Dumas/Cane Ashby mysteryunfolding in France.

Fans were understandably irritated thatYoung and the Restlessglossed over Cole Howard’s deathto focus on the too drawn-out Cane Ashby storyline. Last week saw the show starting to rebalance itself between the France and Genoa City storylines, but the episode descriptions for this upcoming week hint we may be back to the lion’s share of screen time happening at the estate.

What’s Happening This Week On The Young & The Restless: July 14-18

The Battle For Business Begins In Earnest

Last week’sThe Young and the Restless(July 11-14)found Victoria and Claire finally starting to grieve Cole and process his death as they figure out how to move on. Meanwhile, the secret Mariah has been keeping onY&Rwas finally revealed- in a flashback, it showed her smothering a man to death. Not sure her marriage to Tessa can rebound now.

Of course, the Cane Ashby storyline is still unfolding in France, as he angles for the Newmans' and Abbotts' businesses and battle lines are drawn. And in the one purely happy storyline of the week, Danny proposed to Christine again, and she said yes. This week, most of the action is back in France.

What Big Storyline We’re Following This Week

A New Love Triangle Is Official

The war over the Genoa City business empires appears to be heating up, but the storyline we’re most interested in is seeing how the Cane-Lily-Damian love triangle plays out. Last week, Lily finally took the next step with Damian and kissed him, but it seemed less like it was motivated by her really being into him as much as wanting to forget Cane.

Cane, however, saw them kissing, and it wouldn’t be unfair to describe the expression on his face at that moment as devastation. He’s been lying and playing games with everyone, and his full motives aren’t clear, but one thing Cane has been absolutely honest about is that he still has feelings for his ex-wife and the mother of his children. That much was clear in his stricken expression.

That said, it wouldn’t be right for Lily and Cane to just get back together. Cane has so much atoning to do for the past six years, and it’s fine to let him squirm for a bit. It will be curious to see what results from him confronting Damian. But we hope that Lily isn’t just unintentionally using Damian to get over Cane.

How This Sets Up Next Week’s The Young & The Restless

Lines Will Be Drawn - And Crossed

Clearly, this week will launch the inevitable love triangle for Lily between the love of her past and the man who could be her future. Beyond that, though, everyone has been jockeying for position as they try to figure out what Cane’s goals are and who might be allying with whom. This week, it seems like most of the characters will be choosing which side they’re on.

Buried in the episode descriptions is something else interesting: Audra and Kyle will finally cross the line. We knew it was going to happen - after weeks of flirting with each other and Audra practically daring him to take her to bed in every episode, it’s inevitable.

But while it means Kyle is being unfaithful to Claire, it means Claire and Holden, who have been getting closer back in Genoa City, will be free to explore their feelings. For our money, they’d be a far betterThe Young and the Restlesscouple, and it will be interesting to see if they allow those feelings to develop.
