Transformers Kiss Players Is One of Anime’s Most Upsetting Series

In 2006,Transformersfans all around the globe were surprised by the introduction of a brand-new series entitledKiss Players. This entry, created by the author Yuki Oshima, followed a group of girls and women who were infected by Galvatron’s cells, giving them unique powers and a deep connection with the Transformers.

The protagonists were forced to work side by side with the Autobots and Autotroopers, artificial Transformers, to save Earth from clones of one of theDecepticons' most powerful villains, Megatron. To accomplish this mission, they would kiss and merge with the robots, a concept that most fans still consider beyond bizarre.

The series did not last long, as it was discontinued the following year, with only a couple of manga and a radio series to remember it. Since then, no attempts have been made to restartKiss Players, and most fans agree with this decision. Despite being almost 2 decades old, the series is still consideredamongTransformers’ worst entries.

Kiss Players Is Far More Unnerving Than Fans Imagine

Even though the concept behindTransformersKiss Playersis already quite absurd by itself, there are many elements of this strange series that make it even more uncomfortable. Among the most infamous ones is the overtly sexual way the girls who would fuse with the heroes were depicted in both the manga and the toys based on the series.

The radio show was also riddled with inappropriate innuendos and dirty jokes aimed at the female protagonists, making it hard for most listeners to enjoy. The plot of the series was also lacking in both excitement and originality, as it instead chose to focus on the bizarre relationship between the women and the robots.
