The Sims 4has announced a new expansion pack, but fans have pointed out that it already has a major oversight.Enchanted by Natureis scheduled for a July 10 release. It’ll provide several new options for off-the-grid living, allowing Sims to farm for subsistence and live off the land they tend. It’s a pretty expansive pack, including a variety of new options - perhaps most significantly, the return of fairies toThe Sims' roster of supernatural creatures.

According to a post by Reddit userStoltlallare, though, there’s something missing:there are some base game mechanics that simply require you to buy things or use electricity in order to complete them. Among other fans, they’re requesting an update to the base game to add alternate options, allowing players to produce their own cooking ingredients or use non-electric options in order to complete certain in-game goals.

Sims 4 Is Missing Key Features

Off-The-Grid Living Is Impossible In Its Current Form

In short, the issue is thatEnchanted by Natureconflicts with other expansions and base game mechanicsin a way that could cause chaos. Say you haveBust the Dustinstalled, so your Sim has the complete suite of vacuum options, and their house and their mood are affected when the place becomes dusty. They’d normally be required to vacuum it up, but without electricity, they might not be able to do so - andEnchanted by Naturedoesn’t seem to provide any low-tech alternatives, like, for example, a broom.

In a similar vein, Stoltlallare points out, there are some ingredients inThe Sims 4that simply have to be bought. Sure, you can grow a handful of veggies, but what happens when a recipe calls for something like flour or cheese? It doesn’t seem likeEnchanted by Naturegives you the option to mill your own wheat or ferment your own cheese, so the push for natural living seems like a bit of a moot point.

Sims 4 Needs A Free Base Game Update To Address These Issues Before The New Pack

A Major Oversight Needs To Be Corrected

It’s become a running trend: now that we knowThe Sims 5is no longer in production, players are demanding more and more of the series' current iteration. These little oversights won’t pass notice anymore, and players expect every expansion to be complete, meaningful, and functional on launch. For these reasons, they’re hoping thatThe Sims 4’s next pack will deliver on its promise, finding legitimate ways to let players live a natural, off-the-grid life without having to compromise on things as simple as vacuums and flour.
