Fans of the acclaimedWitcherfranchise have been whipped into a frenzy over the past couple of weeks as CD Projekt RED has continued to fuel the fires of speculation regarding what was next for Geralt of Rivia. While signs continued to point to thecharacter guest starring in another game, many fans were holding out hope for a new game or even another DLC announcement forThe Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. After all the teases, fans finally got the answer they were looking for as Geralt is joining theSoulcalibur 6roster.

In a joint announcement from CD Projekt RED and Bandai Namco, Geralt of Rivia was revealed to be joining the expansive cast of characters withinSoulcalibur 6. Players will also be able to fight in a special stage set in Kaer Morhen, the home base for the School of the Wolf. The map also features the iconic Hunt or be Hunted composition fromThe Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The man behind Geralt’s iconic voice, Doug Cockle, is also confirmed to reprise the role.

The reveal was also accompanied by a trailer showing the man known as White Wolf in action for the first time as well as his home stage. Staying true to form, Geralt utilizes a mixture of styles includingsword combat and ability-enhancing potions. Fans of the series can see some Witcher signs being used as well including the fire move Igni and Axii.

With the game due for release later this year, there’s still plenty of roster spots that need to be filled. Fan favorites like Mitsurugi, Ivy, and others have already been announced, though with a variety of games to pull from, there’s plenty more than fans want to see.

One thing that isn’t clear at the moment is if Geralt is the only guest character. The series has a tradition of featuring platform specific guest characters like Link on the Nintendo GameCube version ofSoulCalibur 2or Yoda in the Xbox 360 version ofSoulcalibur 4. Rumors have startedcirculating online for potential guest characterslike theBloodborneHunter for the PlayStation 4 version or Jago fromKiller Instincton the Xbox One, but they have yet to be confirmed.

Soulcalibur 6will launch in 2018 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
