WhenThe Quiet Manwas revealed duringSquare Enix’s E3 showcase this past June, there wasn’t much to go off of from the initial trailer. Given the length at which most games take between when they’re first revealed to when they eventually release, no one was really sure how close the game was to completion. As it turns out, the team at Square Enix is already wrapping things up for their new, mysterious project.
Square Enix has now confirmed thatThe Quiet Manwill be releasing in just a few weeks on November 1st. Square Enix has shown it has confidence in this new property, given the game’s reveal trailer concluded the company’s video showcase at E3 back in June. The game, which is being worked on by both Square Enix and Human Head Studios, sees players in control of a deaf protagonist in a story that cuts between full motion video cutscenes and traditional gameplay in the form of a beat ‘em up brawler.
As far as presentation, the game’s transitioning from full motion video cinematics to gameplay will be done seamlessly, which as an example, is different from how Remedy Entertainment chose to do their TV episode style for 2016’sQuantic Break. The premise ofThe Quiet Manis that the deaf protagonist is “out on a mission to rescue to kidnapped songstress from a mysterious masked man”, according to Square Enix’s press release for the game.
Despite mixed reactions from preview events and demos,The Quiet Manwill indeed be taking the plunge during what is already ajam-packed holiday release schedule, with games such asRed Dead Redemption 2andFallout 76releasing just weeks before and after the November 1st launch date. It appears as though the demand in terms of playing time will be far less than the two mentioned AAA titles however. According to multiple outlets,The Quiet Man’s story will last around three hours, making it possible to complete the game in just one sitting. Considering the short duration of the game and with it being marked as a budget title, sales goals for Square Enix certainly aren’t as high in respect to some of their more marketed titles.
