There’s a common element in most of Taylor Sheridan’s TV shows, and including it in Sylvester Stallone’s crime drama,Tulsa King, would make the series even better. Sheridan is known for his portfolio of crime dramas and repertoire of neo-Western productions. Among all ofTaylor Sheridan’s TV shows, except for Stallone’s drama, one recurring element appears throughout.
Yellowstone, the massively popular neo-Western series starringKevin Costner as John Dutton, was the first show that Sheridan created. After that, the executive producer made thefirstYellowstoneprequel,1883,then hatched his other major series:Mayor of Kingstown,Tulsa King,Lioness, andLandman. That said,Tulsa Kinglacks something most of Sheridan’s other Paramount+ shows share.
Tulsa King Is One Of The Only Taylor Sheridan-Created TV Shows To Not Feature James Jordan
Jordan Plays Some Of Sheridan’s Best TV Characters
Notably,Tulsa Kingstands out as a Taylor Sheridan series that doesn’t feature actor James Jordan. While it may seem like an insignificant or obscure detail, Jordan’s characters are undeniably highlights in Sheridan’s productions, adding something memorable every time. He features twice in theYellowstonefranchise, playing noteworthy roles in both Kevin Costner’s series and1883.
The onlyYellowstoneshow Jordan doesn’t appear in is1923.Jordan plays Agent Steve Hendon, who works with Kayce Dutton(Luke Grimes) when he becomes a livestock agent inYellowstoneseason 2. Hendon is memorably unhinged, unnecessarily shooting and killing an adolescent boy on one occasion and murdering two criminals while apprehending them on another.
Meanwhile,in1883,Jordan plays “Cookie,” the chuck wagon cook that Sam Elliott’s Shea Brennan hiresto butcher cattle for their wagon train. Cookie provides memorable banter and humor throughout the arduous journey. That said, Jordan’s1883character is similarly impulsive, making a short-sighted move in1883episode 9, which jeopardizes the entire wagon train.
Redeeming hisYellowstonecharacters completely, Jordan’s roles inLandmanandLionessare even better. Jordan will return inLandmanseason 2in November 2025, playing the lovable and humorous Dale Bradley. Meanwhile, he portrays Two Cups inLioness,a gruff and reliable member of Joe’s (Zoe Saldaña) team, and Ed inMayor of Kingstown,a harsh and ruthless corrections officer.
Could James Jordan Finally Make A Cameo In Tulsa King Season 3?
Jordan Can Appear In Upcoming Tulsa Or NOLA King Episodes
WithTulsa Kingshowing no signs of slowing down, there’s still time for Jordan to appear alongside Stallone, emerging as a regular cast member or guest star. For now, he isn’t expected to appear inTulsa Kingseason 3. Regardless, Jordan working with the mafia, or maybe just at Bodhi’s Higher Plane Marijuana Dispensary, would be great to see.
That said, Sheridan has another show in development, and it could be the perfect way to introduce Jordan to Dwight “The General” Manfredi’s universe. A New Orleans-based spinoff ofTulsa King,NOLA King,is in the works with Samuel L. Jacksonleading the series. It’s plausible that Sheridan will bring Jordan into that series first, maintaining a tradition.
