With a splash of cannibalism for good measure

Independent studio Failbetter Games is working on its second big project, after its browser gameFallen London. Set in the same universe,Sunless Seaputs the player at the helm of a ship on a sea fraught with darkness, danger, and dearth. The title is focused on telling the stories of the various crew members on board, while they face almost Lovecraftian horrors that can lead to mutiny or worse.

On the game’sKickstarter page, Failbetter cites the likes ofFTL: Faster Than LightandDon’t Starveas influences, among others. Combining those with promises of insanity and cannibalism makes for a pretty good elevator pitch; the project is more than halfway to its funding goal of £60,000, only a few days into the campaign.
