The player then discovers that Sarah is reading chapter 3 ofATale of Two Cities, a novel released by Dickens in 1859 that tells a story set during the turbulent French Revolution. While in normal gameplay this wouldn’t be possible, the player could see this detail thanks to Photo Mode. In this mode,Starfieldplayers take pictures from different angles, which helps to create beautiful shots.

In the comments section, one of theStarfieldplayers asked if the book changes depending on the companion. Two players said, however, that as far as they know, it’s alwaysA Tale of Two Cities. There is a reason for this, given by a fourth player. According to them, the bookseller in Cheyenne, one of thevarious solar systems inStarfield, says that when humanity evacuated the Earth, people mostly brought their collections of Dickens books with them. For this reason, the people of theStarfieldworld seem tired of the author.
