Summary
Traversing the dangers of space with Sam Coe’s young daughter Cora aboard the ship inStarfieldseems risky enough as it is, but one surprising clip shared by a player shows Cora strolling through the middle of a live-fire battle between the player and a group of enemy soldiers. There are a variety of companions to choose from for players who don’t wish to experienceStarfieldalone, and while Constellation member Sam Coe will always insist on taking his daughter along with him on any given journey, players have pointed out a few concerning instances which suggest that Sam might not be that great a parent.
Not unlike many of the other open-world RPGs that Bethesda Game Studios has developed in the past,Starfieldfeatures a selection of companionswho can join the player on their travels and assist them in a variety of different situations. Whether players choose to travel with Constellation chairwoman Sarah Morgan, the charismatic physicist Barrett, or any of the other unique characters within Constellation, each companion in the game is complete with their own skills and perks which can make them beneficial in different ways. Most characters also feature their own side quests which players can gain access to by traveling with them, and players can even form romantic relationships with some of these companions.

Sam Coe is one such companion who can be particularly useful in assisting the player in combat, and is unique in the sense that players who travel with him will be forced to take his daughter Cora along for the ride too. While she usually stays aboard the ship where it’s safe, a clip shared by the player PandaSwordsMan117 shows Cora strolling nonchalantly through a warzone during a quest where she is allowed to accompany the player on the surface of a planet. This isn’t the first time players have shared an example of Cora being in a situation which she absolutely should not be in, and given thesheer scale ofStarfieldand the possibilities it offers, it likely won’t be the last.
Cora isn’t just a stowaway on a player’s ship though, as she can open the possibility for various side-missions and dialogue options throughout the course of the game too. Cora’s vibrant personality and affinity for books has made her a welcome addition to someplayers' crews inStarfield, and she can become much more significant of a presence in the game for players who decide to develop a more sophisticated relationship with her father, Sam.
Still though,Starfield’s various companions certainly aren’t for everyone. While traveling with company grants players a little extra firepower and another person to carry some weight,Starfielddoes offer various perksand traits which can benefit fans who prefer navigating the stars alone.
Starfieldis available on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
