In a San Diego Comic-Con 2025 display, also available ontheStar Warsdatabank, it says,“Some even believed he was the prophesied Chosen One who would bring balance to the Force.“The wording of this description very clearly suggests that it is not set in stone that Anakin was the Chosen One.
Rather, this wording implies that this is just a belief that some held (such as the Jedi in the prequel trilogy, particularly Qui-Gon Jinn), but that this was never confirmed one way or another. It’s true that there has been some debate in the fanbase regardingwhether Anakin was truly the Chosen One.
Some believe that it was instead Luke Skywalker who was ultimately the Chosen One and brought balance to the Force, and, at one point, George Lucas even considered making Leia the true Chosen One in the end. Even with all that discourse, though, it feels significantly different forStar Wars’official description of Anakin to call this legacy into question.

In light of this information on theStar Warsdatabank, it’s fair to ask: Was Anakin really the prophesied Chosen One inStar Wars? While it seems evenStar Warsdoesn’t have a straight answer to this question,all evidence still points to Anakin being the true Chosen One, for several reasons.

For one, in Claudia Gray’s canon novel,Star Wars: Master & Apprentice, the true wording of the Chosen One prophecy was revealed and included the fact that the Chosen One would be"born of no father.“Although this fact could be stretched to technically apply to Luke and/or Leia, the most obvious explanation is that this refers to Anakin.

Moreover, while Luke helped Anakin Skywalker to be redeemed,it was still Anakin who brought an end to the Sith and restored balance to the ForceinReturn of the Jedi. Again, this wording could be stretched to also apply to Luke, but it seems clear that both elements of the prophecy most closely align with Anakin.
Despite this wording in theStar Warsdatabank’s description of Anakin, I therefore continue to believe thatAnakin Skywalkeris the true Chosen One inStar Wars.
