After a disastrous launch last November,Star Wars Battlefront 2has been slowly working to gain back fans and address the various issues that currently plague the experience. With the Last Jedi seasonal event now at an end, the development team at DICE is readying a major update which is going to bring sweeping changes to a number of game mechanics. The team has already hinted atchanges coming to the progression systemas well as arcade mode, community manager Mat Everett gave fans a glimpse into many of the other major changes coming to the game.

Posting on the Battlefront forums, Everett revealed that update 1.2 forStar Wars Battlefront 2is currently in the testing phase and heading for certification. When it does arrive, players will find the limited time Jetpack Cargo mode available, where two teams battle each other to obtain and bring back neutral cargo with the added bonus of having jetpacks. In addition, heroes and villains are all getting balanced so expect plenty of nerfs and buffs to be delivered to each and every character. Specific changes will be revealed once the patch notes are made public.

While these updates should go a long way to improving the game as a whole, the damage may have already been done due to the loot box controversy. While EA has recently confirmed that themicrotransaction system is coming backto the game soon, the company hasn’t revealed what, if anything, is changing about the system. The criticism and outrage over what most fans felt was a predatory system that pushed people to spend money forced EA to complete gut the system during the launch week. While nothing is set in stone quite yet, EA has recently tried to mend fences with fans by offering an apology crate in the game, giving players various items like credits and star cards.

Star Wars Battlefront 2is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
