Spider-Man’s New Space Suit is Created By The Technarchy

The ‘Technarachnid Suit’ Name Already Hinted At Its X-Men Connection

With the confirmation straight from Marvel that the costume worn by this new spacefaring Spider-Man was dubbed the ‘Technarachnid’ costume, its origins finally seeemed easy to guess. The yellow color scheme and circuitry conjured images of the Technarchy (the X-Men’s Warlock chief among them), and the title seemed to seal the deal.

Official preview pages fromAmazing Spider-Man#11 went a step further, showing Spider-Man transforming the suit in much the same way as a techno-organic Technarchy machine being might. But this nerw cover art, and Marvel’s tease of"a new major character"reveals a new, ominous piece of the story.

A suit created by the Technarchy is very different from the suit actually being a living, sentient Technarch capable of staring Spider-Man down. But it’s a familiar dynamic toX-Menfans, having seen the Technarch Warlock bond to Cypher of theNew Mutantsfor years. Is it really a coincidence that a new Technarch should arrive,as Cypher destroys the X-Men’s entire future?

That connection is likely to be kept quiet for now, even as Marvel confirms the Technarch suit may turn against its host, and shows Spidey fighting one of themembers of his own new Guardians of the Galaxy roster.

Spider-Man Can Add All-New Lore To Marvel’s Technarchy

If the cover art and speculated plot details are reminding readers of a certain Spider-Man/symbiote storyline, that’s no coincidence. On the surface, the similarities between the hive nature of the Technarchy and symbiote Klyntar are numerous. And with the Symbiotes revealed to becreations of the King in Black, they fall even closer to the Technarch than when first introduced.

But where the lore of symbiotes has been massively expanded in modernVenomcomics, there is still room for the Technarchy to catch up. So the identity of this Technarch acting as Spider-Man’s suit, its ambitions, duties, or indeed its future remain completely unknown. But fans of bothSpider-ManandX-Mencanon willk just have to wait for this adventure to begin.
