Insomniac Games is once again riding high as their latest title,Marvel’s Spider-Manhas beenselling at an unbelievable rate. The game has only been available worldwide for a few days to this point and already it has broken numerous records in the UK including a few specifically for Marvel.
According to the UK sale chartsMarvel’s Spider-Manhas taken over as the fastest selling Marvel branded game in history. Insomniac’s open-world gem has beaten the previous record holder,LEGO Marvel Super Heroes,by a fairly wide margin, thoughBatman Arkham Knightremains as the fastest selling superhero game of this generation. That fact shouldn’t be too surprising however asBatman Arkham Knightlaunched on PC, Xbox One, and PS4, which makesSpider-Manlook even better considering it launched solely on the PS4.
In addition to topping Marvel related sales records,Marvel’s Spider-Manhas also knocked off a few 2018 records as well. In the UK, it has outsoldFar Cry 5to claim the title of fastest selling game of 2018and almost doubled the numbers thatGod of Warpulled in earlier this year. It’s another impressive win for Sony, which continues to not only pump out well-received exclusives titles likeHorizon Zero Dawnand the aforementionedGod of Warbut also proves that the single player genre is far from dead.
Part of the reason why the game has sold so well is thanks in large part to the stellar reviews that it has earned. Most outlets, including our very own, have given top marks to the game, which propelled the franchise back to the glory days of some of the more classic titles. Swinging around New York has never felt better and outside of story missions, players have plenty of interesting things to check out from landmarks, toa powerful photo mode, and finding a vast array of unlockable Spidey suits pulled from the comics and movies alike.
