Choi Ji-Won, the Game Director for the upcoming SoulslikeLies of P, has revealed that the game’s development is nearing completion. There are a lot of games that take clear inspiration from FromSoftware’s Soulsborne franchise, with many creating their own twists on the original formula to make themselves stand out.Lies of Pis an upcoming title from indie game studio Neowiz, and it puts the player in control of an alternate version of Pinocchio as he looks to become a real boy.
Lies of Pwas first revealed back in May 2021, and since then plenty of details about the game have been revealed as it sets its sights on a 2023 release date. As more gameplay and trailers have been shown forLies of P, a lot of gamers online have compared the title toBloodborne. However, despite the potential aesthetic similarities,Lies of Pwas actually inspired more byEldenRing, and even in its visuals the Soulslike will differ, as it is set in the Belle Epoque era whileBloodbornefinds itself styled after Victorian England.

It seems that soon enough fans will get to see a lot more ofLies of Pfor themselves, as its Game Director Choi Ji-Won has revealed that the game is nearly complete. Back in August, whenLies of Palso showed off some new gameplay, it was stated by Ji-Won that the Souslike was around 70% complete. In a new interview with 4Gamers, the director has given an update on that figure, saying that “most of the development” onLies of Phad been completed.
Ji-Won also remarked that the game was in a much more advanced state than he previously mentioned, which has some fans hopeful that a release date could be on the way. Ji-Won didn’t make any promises about when gamers could get their hands onLies of P, or when a release date could even be revealed. Still, with the game so near completion, it appears as though it is only a matter of time before fans are given more information onLies of P’srelease.
From theextended gameplay that’s already been shown fromLies of P, the game appears to be a solid Soulslike, which manages to differentiate itself from the rest of the genre with its unique central character of Pinocchio. However, even with these promising showcases, and the details that have been divulged from Choi Ji-Won in the past, gamers are going to have to wait until they get their hands onLies of Pbefore making any firm judgments on it.
