What This Means For Sisu 2
This update reveals that the intenseending ofSisuwill receive its follow-up surprisingly soon, with its sequel comingjust two years and seven months after the movie originally debuted in the United States.Sisu: Road to Revengeis also set to arrive during an interesting time at the domestic box office.
Sisupremiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2022, which was followed by its Finnish debut in January 2023 and its U.S. debut in April 2023.
October through December tends to be the time when movies premiere when they are aiming to attract awards attention. Because action titles do not tend to get many prestigious awards,Sisu: Road to Revengeis not a likely candidate for Oscar buzz, butit is set to debut during a time when there will generally be more attention on smaller international releases.
It will also arrive the weekend before Thanksgiving, which tends to be a robust period at the domestic box office. While it will be competing with theupcomingWicked: For Good, which is a hotly anticipated franchise tentpole,it could be well positioned as counterprogrammingto the splashyWizard of Ozprequel musical.
Our Take On The Sisu 2 Update
While it remains to be seen if the sequel lives up to the original, the titleSisu: Road to Revengeis promising. If it lives up to its new subtitle and its slightly expanded but still straightforward premise, it could be just as brutally simple as its predecessor, appealing to a broader international audience without sacrificing the original movie’s intensity.
