He Hints That He Expects Her To Become His Successor
Thescript forSeveranceseason 2’s finalehas been released, which offers some deeper insights into several scenes from the “Cold Harbor” episode. For obvious reasons, the script also includes the brief interaction between Helly and Jame Eagan, hinting at what Jame wants from his daughter’s innie. After watchingSeveranceseason 2’s finale, many viewers could not help but speculate thatJame Eagan eventually plans to replace Helly with Helena because his daughter’s outie has lost her spark to effectively lead the organization.
Before parting ways with Helly, he also asks her to “stay on the path,” making it evident that he hopes to make her his heir instead of letting Helena take over as Lumon’s next leading figure.
He not only sees that spark in the innie but also finds a reflection of Kier Eagan in her. In the script, Jame Eagan explicitly states:“I am—feeble. Considering all the potential damage Helly and Mark have caused to Lumon’s reputation with their season 2 plan, the company would likely be apprehensive about keeping them and the other innies alive. The company would want to fire all the employees who were even distantly involved with Gemma’s escape from the Lumon building. However,Helly might be able to save everyone by agreeing to replace Helena as Lumon’s future leader.
Jame Eagan might sweeten the deal for her by agreeing to keep Mark alive. Helly could also convince him to spare all the other innies, which would allow her and Mark’s innie to pursue their romantic relationship without worrying about the threat of being terminated. However, Helly’s decision may not sit too well with Mark’s innie in the long run, given how he has clearly seen what Lumon does to people in the name of experimentation and science. This could lead to complications between Helly and Mark and may eventually convince Mark to leave Lumon inSeveranceseason 3.
