Deep Silver and Volition recently gave fans an in-depth look intoSaints Row’s customization options, including how someone customizes their character, their empire, their rides, and their weapons. Character customization looks really deep, as players can make characters that don’t even appear human whatsoever, and luckily players will be able to get their hands on thatSaints Row Bosscharacter creator ahead of launch.
Vehicles look equally impressive and as deep as a racing game—if in a completely different direction as normal. Game Rant recently viewed a presentation on all of these customization options, and whileSaints Row’s weaponsdidn’t get as much attention as others, there was still plenty to take in.

Saints Row: A Saint and Their Weapon
Appearance-wise, players can go deep into their weapons. Every single visual aspect of it, all the way down to its smallest parts, are customizable. Even if players don’t want to fine-tune or tweak their weapons inSaints Row, there are plenty of decals and styles they can choose from depending on their aesthetic. Perhaps the most impressive component, however, is the visual mods.
These visual mods completely change the weapon. They don’t paint a weapon; they fundamentally change it. Two examples shown include turning an assault rifle into an umbrella and a rocket launcher into a guitar case. The past twoSaints Rowgames have had wacky combat, but these weapons have the potential to take that to the next level as far as weapons are concerned.
It still doesn’t end there, as while there are plenty of standard weapons, there are just as many that are completely out there. There are cardboard weapons, so players can embrace their inner LARPer. There are weapons that don’t operate the way they look. And, one weapon Game Rant saw had seriousKingdom Hearts’ Keyblade vibes.
There’s no doubtSaints Rowhas a history of completely ridiculous weapons. The Dubstep Gun, the Shark-O-Matic, the Inflato-Ray, Plunger Gun,Mollusk Launcher, and Tentacle Bat all stand out as memorableSaints Rowweapons. Nothing to quite that extent was shown off for the newSaints Rowgame, but it makes sense to save the best for last, or launch. If the customization options and sheer wackiness of the standard weapons are eye-catching, it’ll be truly interesting to see how far the weapons go in this new game.
Saints Rowreleases August 23 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
