Gamers have been usingRuneScapeas a way to escape from reality for years, but a brand new update for the game, titledThe Land Out of Time, seeks to give players even more content to explore in the already-vast game world.

The update, which released today, adds a new region to the world of Gielnor called Anachronia. Players in Anachronia will be able to explore dilapidated ruins, embark on a new questline, and, most importantly, battle dinosaurs.RuneScapedeveloper Jagex has promised a ton of new content for both existing and new players, with the update’s ongoing storyline being available for players with mining, smithing, and divination skills at level 50 or above.

While many veteran players turn up their noses at therevamped version ofRuneScape, instead opting to continue playing the classic version of the game, the update does look cool. The dinosaurs look very interesting, with some looking like they would be more at home inMonster Hunter, which is also receiving a beefy new update, than they do in a Fantasy RPG.

The update’s launch trailer offers a few quick glances at the new area, including some peaks at the various dinosaurs players will encounter as they search the region. It’s an interesting layout, and some of the fauna even feels reminiscent ofMorrowind’s.

It’s great to seeRuneScapecontinue to be supported after all these years. It’s arguably one of the most influential games of all time, having an impact on game development as a whole and inspiring novels based off of it likeReturn to Canifis. It’ll be interesting to see what Jagex has in store for players next, as the game has maintained a relatively steady audience since its launch, even with the split between the classic and modern versions of the game.

Players will have to decide for themselves ifThe Land Out of Timeis worth forking over money for a membership, but those that do can at least rest assured knowing that they can now recreate scenes fromJurassic ParkwithinRuneScape.

RuneScapeis out now for iOS, Android, and PC.
