Given the immense successMarvel’s Spider-Manreleased to, it only seems like a matter of when, not if, it gets a sequel. A new rumor has new emerged providing not only an answer to this, but it also reveals several other details of the game. Unlike most rumors, this does sound relatively plausible, but despite this, everyMarvel’s Spider-Man 2rumor should be met with the proper amount of salt.
Rumors like this often live or die by their source, and this one is no more concrete than most. It was created via a throwaway Reddit user claiming to have contacts, so there’s no real credibility there. As aforementioned, though, there’s nothing mind-blowing about these supposed details either, and in fact, a few have been detailed in priorSpider-Man 2leaks. For example, the Redditor states that it will release in Holiday 2021 with a reveal coming this summer. Not only does this fit most predictions and other rumors concerningSpider-Man 2’s release date, but with a proper reveal of the PS5 likely to happen this summer, it makes sense.

The Redditor further states that it is another completely single player game, no online co-op whatsoever, and introduces new boroughs to be explored. These are, namely, Queens and Brooklyn, which are complemented by a new mechanic for low-building travel. According to the leaker, the game is set about 6 months after the original, with Peter still mourning Aunt May. He andMary Jane Wattsonnow live together, but for reasons unclear, she is not available for the first part of the story.
The plot further centers around Oscorp attempting to clone DNA to create a super soldier, with this instead spawning new villains. As made clear by the end ofSpider-Man,Harry Osborn will become Venombut in an altogether unique take on the character. Venom, whether villain or not, will be joined byCarnage and Mysterio from Spider-Man’s Rogue Gallery, while supporting characters Eddie Brock and Miles will have a big role in the story, with the latter playable in some sections of the game.
Other details include a “web chain” mechanic that allows players to swap from Peter to Miles, with the overall web-swinging mechanic overhauled as well. This includes “MANY MANY MANY more” web-swing animations in conjunction with those from the first game, further detailed with three new swing modes: realistic, arcade, and hybrid, with these names subject to change. Hybrid is like the original’s, Arcade has “fake” assistance, and Realistic is similar to 2004’sSpider-Man 2web-swinging mechanics (but more refined, presumably).
Again, it’s worth reiterating that, as with all rumors in the gaming industry, this should be met with a solid grain of salt. Stranger things have happened, though, and this paints a perfect picture for aSpider-Man 2game to run with on PS5.
