What This Means For Law & Order: SVU Season 27

The Team Is Getting Back Together

Rollins returning is perfect for exactly whatSVUneedsto help bring back the magic and character dynamics that make the show so great.Law & Order: SVU’s casthas always been expansive, but Rollins was a core addition, and her relationship with the others, particularly Benson, was one of the show’s highlights.

Bringing Rollins back full-time again is just whatLaw & Order: SVUseason 27needs to re-establish some kind of stability on the show — something that it lost when she unexpectedly left Benson’s team. Aside from being a capable detective, Rollins is also Benson’s close friend, so their relationship goes beyond the walls of the precinct.

The fact that Rollins is also married to Carisi also adds to the importance of her character as a series regular. Luckily, NBC and Wolf Entertainment have realized thatLaw & Order: SVUis better with Rollins in it.

Our Take On Rollins Coming Back

It Was Long Overdue

Law & Order: SVUmade a mistake letting Giddish depart, andthe fact Rollins wasn’t killed off suggests the show knew thatat the time. Going into teaching may have been motivated by the trauma brought on by her on-shift incident. A couple of years later, Rollins may have realized that she was best suited to rejoin Benson’s team.

Right now, there are no details about how Rollins' return came about, but the fact that she’s back on set with Hargitay adds to the hype of her reclaiming her spot in theLaw & Order: SVUensemble.
