AlthoughResident Evil 2’s 20th anniversary came and went yesterday with little to no new information about the survival-horror title’sforthcoming remake, that doesn’t mean fans should lose all hope for the project. As a matter of fact, the original game’s director, Hideki Kamiya, took to Twitter yesterday to say that fans should “trust” in the new director’s vision for the remake and reserve judgment until “new information” comes to light.

As seen in the tweets below, it’s obvious that Kamiya has respect for his fellow creators, as he expresses confidence in his unnamed director friend’s abilities to deliver the goods withResident Evil 2’s remake. What’s more is that he even went so far as to tell the head of the new project to “Do as you like” while they were both out on the town with one another last year.

Considering the fact that Kamiya-san had such an influential role in shaping the creation of the originalResident Evil 2, most fans will likely rest easier knowing that he trusts the direction of the survival-horror title’s remake. After all,RE2is generally considered to be one of the most highlyranked games of the main series, so if Hideki Kamiya has faith in the project, it stands to reason that there could be some truly unique and engaging stuff on the way.

With scarce information to go on regarding theResident Evil 2remake’s development, it might be difficult for some fans to trust that the project is in good hands, especially since Capcom hasn’t shared much following the game’s confirmation over two years ago. Nevertheless, Hideki Kamiya’s assertion thatREdiehards should trust in the remake team doubles as a good sign for theRE2remake’s road ahead, and as a piece of advice for overzealous fans to not stress themselves out by jumping to conclusions without having any evidence. That said, even if we did have screenshots or a gameplay trailer to go on, no one can be totally certain how a game will turn out until it has been finished and released to the public.
