Just a couple of days ago, Sony Interactive Entertainment officially announced aRed Dead Redemption 2PS4 Pro bundlethat would include a copy of the forthcoming western title, as well as a 1 TB hard drive for data storage. Now, it looks as if players who go on to purchase the bundle will be thankful that they have so much open space to use on their systems, for it appears as ifRDR2’s file size is going to be massive.
Those who zoom in closely on the image below of the back of the box art for theRed Dead Redemption 2PS4 Pro bundle will notice that the game will require a minimum install size of 105 GB on the console. Of course, it’s always possible that the final file size could change to become bigger or smaller, or even be reduced on standard PS4 systems due to the Pro potentially requiring some higher resolution textures to take full advantage of 4K TVs. That said, though, the current listing forRDR2’s file size puts it well ahead of the launch file size for Rockstar Games' previous title,Grand Theft Auto 5, as it weighed in at roughly 65 GB.
In addition toRed Dead Redemption 2’s file size, the Pro bundle’s box art also states that “online content” will remain exclusively available to the system for 30 days before it is given to players on the Xbox One. For those unaware,PS4-exclusive contenthas already been confirmed forRDR2, but it’s currently unclear as to whether or not this is the only content for the Sony console, or if there is going to be both exclusive content and timed exclusive content.
All things considered, most players looking forward toRed Dead Redemption 2likely wouldn’t be too phased if the game’s file size takes up such a meaty chunk of their PlayStation 4’s hard drive space. With Rockstar having toutedRDR2’smap sizeas the largest the developer has ever created, it makes sense that the game would require a hefty amount of space to run.
Red Dead Redemption 2is set to launch on Jul 01, 2025 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
