At the beginning of the year, players across the globe had high hopes for the launch of both next-gen consoles. And despite a global pandemic, that excitement has remained strong withPlayStation 5 beating out PS4for the biggest console launch in history.
Now as the year draws to a close and the holiday season begins, many will be introduced to Sony’s next-gen console as well asPS Plusfor the first time, so it’s important that next month’s free games make an impact and reinforce why PlayStation owners need the online service. As such, here’s our completePS Plusfree games wish list for January 2021.

Hitman 2
On Jun 27, 2025, IO Interactive is due to releaseHitman 3, the final game in its World of Assassination trilogy of games that began with theHitman (2016)reboot. One of the most exciting features in the game is the ability toimport content fromHitman (2016)andHitman 2intoHitman 3including every mission, unlockable item, and costume. Essentially, for players that own the previous games,Hitman 3is a one-stop-shop for the entire trilogy and the best way to experience it as all imported content will be upgraded to take advantage of the new hardware, systems, and features.
AsHitman (2016)was already released on PS Plus, releasingHitman 2on next month would give a lot of players instant access to all content and would be a great incentive to pick up the new game or renew their subscription. The reboot introduced a new way to experience the popular stealth franchise andHitman 2took everything that worked so well, unique locations and the ability to complete missions in dozens of different ways, and refined the gameplay while also offering a proper single-player story.
Hitman 2is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
Spyro Reignited Trilogy
When Activision announced theCrash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, it took the world by surprise. Something that had long seemed impossible was finally happening, and players couldn’t help but speculate what this could mean for other fan-favorites likeCrash Team Racingand theSpyro the Dragontrilogy. Fast forward to present day, not only has Activision has made both those dreams a reality, Vicarious Visions released a from-the-ground-upremake ofTony Hawks Pro Skater 1 + 2,andCrash Bandicoot4: It’s About Timewas released by developer Toys for Bob only months ago.
LikeCrash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, Toys for Bob did an excellent job on theSpyro Reignited Trilogy, aremake compilation ofSpyro the Dragon,Ripto’s Rage!, andYear of the Dragon. There’s a reason Insomniac Games original trilogy were so beloved on PS One and a reason they were remade for a new generation of players to experience. With PS5 now available worldwide, a lot of kids will be getting brand new consoles on Christmas Day, andSpyro Reignited Trilogywould be the perfect family-friendly game to release on PS Plus alongsideAstro’s Playroom,Bugsnax, andSackboy: A Big Adventure.

Until Dawn: Rush of Blood
Supermassive Games made a name for itself in 2015 with the release ofUntil Dawn, an interactive horror adventure with a star-studded cast, a focus on player choice that made it possible for every character to live or die, and a decent amount of scares. Since then, Supermassive Games has moved on to make a series of smaller horror experiences such asMan of MedanandLittle Hope,but beforethe Dark Pictures Anthology, the team released on on-rails PSVR spinoff,Until Dawn: Rush of Blood.
Released in October 2016 as a PSVR launch title,Until Dawn: Rush of Bloodis more of a VR experience than an actual full-length game likeHalf-Life: AlyxorAstro Bot Rescue Mission,but it’s an enjoyable experience overall and a great addition to any owner’s library. InUntil Dawn: Rush of Blood,players are aboard a horror-themed roller coaster and shoot down various objects, enemies, and most importantly, try not to throw off the headset in fear. Withpatents for PSVR2 surfacing online, it’s a good time for Sony to start building up players' libraries and selling them on the idea of ahead of time.

PS Plus Going into 2021
On top of gaining access to the ongoing PS Plus Collection of games which includes some big names from the PlayStation such asGod of War,Ratchet & Clank,Monster Hunter World, andCrash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, it’s worth noting thatBugsnaxwill be available for free on PS5 until January 4 alongsideJust Cause 4,Rocket Arena, andWorms Rumble. It’s unclear whether Sony has plans to add an additional PS5 bonus game next month given thatDestruction Allstarswill be free on PS Plusfor two months starting in February, so hopefully, players get something to keep themselves entertained through the holidays.
