ThePokemonfranchise is bigger than it has ever been, that much is evident by the fact thatPokemon SunandMoonmarked the biggest debut for the property ever. That’s an incredibly impressive feat for Nintendo’s majority-owned subsidiary, and while the core RPG installments are still king, many fans will be happy to know that thePokemontrading card game is also going strong. In fact, The Pokemon Company has just confirmed that it is preparing to release another new line on May 5th for the TCG calledPokemon Sun & Moon–Guardians Rising.
This reveal has arrived following the release of the initialPokemon TCG: Sun & Moonseries – the lot of which launched in North America on February 3rd of this year. That particular release marked the debut of some ofPokemon’s newest creatures into the TCG, which was a monumental moment for fans. TheGuardians Risingrelease will simply continue that initial undertaking, with the likes of the Alola region’s Legendary Tapu Koko and Tapu Lele leading the charge.

Job postings by developer Game Freak seem to hint at anewPokemongame coming to Nintendo Switch, while industry insiders have reported that a project is well into development for the same platformcodenamed “Pokemon Stars”.
Even though these reports remain unconfirmed at this time, there’s no question thatGuardians Risingshould make for an interesting expansion upon its release. On the other hand, longtime fans having trouble waiting forGRcan instead collect portions of thenostalgia-inducingPokemon TCG: XY–Evolutionsset which features the art from the original Base Set ofPokemoncards.
