Nintendo today revealed and began its next majorPokemon Sun and Moonevent, gifting five new previously unavailable Mega Stones to this generation of games. This round of Mega Stonesare for the following Pokemon, a selection of Generation III favorites: Blaziken, Sceptile, Swampert, Camerupt, and Banette. The Mega Stones can be acquired via Mystery Gift with the special code MATSUBUSA and are already available.
To help smooth out the process of picking up the new Mega Stones inPokemon SunandMoon, Nintendo has provided a simple numbered list to go through:
Of significance is also the fact that all five of thePokemon receiving Mega Stoneson this event are not available in the wilds ofPokemon Sun or Moon. to play with them players will have to acquire them from a previous generation ofPokemongames and then transfer them into their Pokemon Banks via the Poke Transporter. This is because items are lost in the Transporter process, meaning players need Mega Stones for their Pokemon in each distinct game. That’s also what makes events like this so exclusive and exciting.
This isn’t the firstPokemon Sun and MoonMega Stone event, but it’s definitely the biggest. Five Mega Stones at once seems like quite the prize and could imply Nintendo’s looking to release more Mega Stones sooner rather than later. Blaziken, Sceptile, Swampert, Camerupt, and Banette will join previously Mega’d Pokemon Mewtwo, in two different forms, andPidgeot, Steelix, Heracross, and Houndoomamong others.
The only future Mega Stone drop planned is a wide release for the Mega Stones Abomasite, Tyranitarite and Manectite. The stones were given to participants ofInternational Challenge May, but don’t yet have a public global release. Expect a code for them to be forthcoming in the months to come. Otherwise, expect Nintendo to have some other surprised lined up before the release of theUltra SunandUltra Moonlater this year.
Pokemon Sun andMoonare currently available exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS.Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moonare scheduled for release on November 17 later this year, both also exclusive to the 3DS.
