Tonight’sPokémonpress conference was light on game material, but we did get a confirmation and short teaser for a brand new mobile project. CalledPokémon Masters, this spin-off will let players create their dream team of master trainers from past games to battle players with teams of Pokémon. That doesn’t sound as brutal as I would have wanted, but I guess it is something.
As the officialPokémonTwitter account revealed, “Fun fact:Pokémon Mastersbegan with a suggestion from Ken Sugimori ofGame Freak, who wanted to create a game featuring all past and present Pokémon Trainers from the video games. Stay tuned for more on Pokémon Masters. We’ll share additional info as soon as we can!”
The short snippet of gameplay showed what looked like a typical mobile game mixed with the turn-based RPG mechanics of the main series. I don’t know if it will be free-to-play or a traditional paid model, but the title will be heading to the Google Play and App Stores in the 2019 calendar year. We’ll likely hear we inch closer to release.
