UPDATE:Bandai Namco is now offeringPac-Man Championship Edition 2for free for PS4, Steam, and Xbox One users. More information can be foundhere.

Some PlayStation 4 users in Europe were briefly able to getPac-Man Championship Edition 2for free, though the game is now back to its regular price. It isn’t entirely clear what caused the issue in the first place, or if players that claimed the game will actually be able to keep it. It’s especially strange that the issue was only available for some users.

It’s possible thatPac-Man Championship Editon 2is intended to be a PS Plus game in the near future, and the pricing was just an accidental slip-up too early. Of course, that’s just general speculation, and it could be a number of issues. Sony hasn’t announcedMay’s PS Plus gamesyet, and it’ll likely be about another week before it does.

Still, for those lucky enough to get the game, it’s a good way to pass some time. It certainly isn’t a hot new title, butPac-Manis one of gaming’s most recognizable franchises, and setting new high scores is always a fun way to kill time.

Gaming companies have been giving out a number of free games during the pandemic, which has been good to see. Even Classics likeAssassin’s Creed 2have been free, and the game still holds up as one of the best narratives out there. Who knows, there may even be other free games on the horizon as the pandemic continues.

Issues with online stores pop up from time to time, soPac-Manaccidentally being marked for free isn’t that outrageous. EvenAmazon is having availability issues for games, removing certain listings as it prioritizes essential goods in its warehouses. Hopefully, the issues are resolved sooner rather than later, but only time will tell.
