Destination Xseason 1 starPeter Weber has once again established himself as a reality TV mastermind, and I’m reminded of his legendary moves inThe Traitors USseason 2. Peter got his reality TV start on Hannah Brown’sBacheloretteseason in 2019, and later became the star of his ownBachelorseason, which premiered in January 2020, during which he ended up being unlucky in love. In January 2024, he debuted inThe Traitors US.
Peter is a 33-year-old airline pilot originally from Fairfax, Virginia. His job is a great asset to him on a show such asDestination Xseason 1, which requires the contestants to live on a bus and guess where they are with only the clues and their own skills, such as watching the sun through the bus windows, to guide them.Peter was a late addition to the cast, along withLove Island’sJaNa Craig. However, despite this disadvantage of being a latecomer to the game, Peter has already taken overDestination Xand turned it on its head. Here’s how Peter is once again using his intelligence and charming personality to dominate the game.
Destination X Contestant Peter Weber Is A Strategic Mastermind
Peter Always Has A Plan
After Peter joinedDestination X, his fellow contestant Biggy Bailey told him that people wouldn’t trust him as a newcomer to the game and, therefore, wouldn’t give him any help, soPeter quickly realized that he and JaNa had to stick together. I thought it was fantastic that he immediately realized that he should team up with her. I also thought that it was interesting that he saw coming in late to the game as an advantage, rather than a hindrance. Peter said in his confessional that he didn’t have a concrete idea about where he and the other contestants were, so he needed to build some relationships so that he could gather information.
Peter was then able to get Tai Lowryto trust him enough to tell him the information that Biggy and Rick Szabo had shared with her about where they were after they won a challenge. However,Peter actually wanted to be in alliance with Rick, and Rick wanted to work with him too, so he revealed what Tai had told him, which let Rick know that Tai couldn’t be trusted because they’d sworn her to secrecy.
I thought thatPeter was so smart to tell Rick that he and JaNa felt like outcasts because he knew that Rick was feeling that way too, and he’d relate to that. I also liked that Peter simply told Rick that he wanted to tell JaNa the truth about where they were, and that he didn’t pretend that he wasn’t going to. This showed that he had reality TV experience.
In his confessional, Peter said that he knew that, in a game likeDestination X, contestants need numbers on their sides, and they also need to be many steps ahead. This immediately reminded me of how Peter playedThe Traitors US.As a Faithful, Peter built an army of loyal followers called Peter’s Pals, and he was one of the only Faithfuls who was able to figure out who almost all of the Traitors were.
During one of the missions,Peter set a trap for the Traitors with a masterfully deceitful strategy. He convinced his fellow contestants not to tell anyone who had shields, and then he lied and said that he had one. This caused the Traitors to murder someone who had a shield, which meant that they’d outed themselves. I like howPeter is once again using the strategyof being quietly lethal to further his game. His calm demeanor hides his true dastardly intentions.
Peter Is Playing A Loyal Destination X Game
Peter Was A Faithful Through & Through In The Traitors
Peter’s first appearance inDestination Xhappened when he gave Shayne Cureton, who’d won a challenge, an advantage card. When they met, Shayne didn’t realize who Peter was, so he didn’t mention that he’d met him to his fellow contestants. Shayne’s challenge partner, Tai, did the same thing when she met JaNa. However,Shayne and Tai were shocked when Peter and JaNa boarded the bus as new contestants after the week’s elimination.
Peter and Shayne immediately admitted that they’d met earlier, but I was surprised that Tai lied and said that she hadn’t had any interaction with JaNa. When Peter questioned her about it, she continued to lie, and the other contestants began to lose trust in her because they didn’t believe that Shayne had met Peter, but Tai hadn’t met JaNa. Peter’s confused expression said it all.
I cringed becauseTai was so bad at lying, and I had a feeling that it might be the beginning of the end of her game. I thought that Peter was so smart and savvy to simply tell the truth because it downplayed the situation, which actually really wasn’t a big deal at all.Tai made it into a problem when she decided to lie about it.
In the next episode, when Tai was teamed up with Biggy and Rick in a challenge, they lied to her about the clues they’d seen in order to trick her into guessing someplace in Germany instead of Amsterdam in the Map Room. Although it was a deceptive move, I understood that they didn’t trust her because of her lies. Instead, Rick trusted Peter and JaNa, and they formed their alliance.Peter said in his confessional that pilots usually work in twos, and, if he could find somebody that he trusts, he’d work with them any day.
DuringThe Traitors US, Peter was known as the most Faithful of the Faithfuls because of his loyalty. In fact, he turned down an invitation to join the Traitors because he didn’t want to betray his alliance of Faithfuls. He felt that it would be morally wrong to switch sides so late in the game. I admired Peter for being loyal to his teammates, Peter’s Pals, because he was the leader of the group. Even though he didn’t winThe Traitors,he proved himself to be a worthy competitor.
I think that Peter’sDestination Xgame will be similar, andhe’ll stay true to JaNa and Rick until the end. They might not even realize how faithful an alliance member Peter will be yet. He might betray others along the way, but he’ll stick with his alliance and always be honest with them.
DuringDestination X,I was also pleasantly surprised that Peter didn’t attempt to hide that he was a pilot from his fellow contestants, even though it might’ve put a target on his back because it gave him a huge advantage in the game. However, it would’ve been a bad move, especially since he’s already famous and some of them might’ve already known. But, you just never know what people might do when they panic on reality TV shows. Just look at Tai’s lie about JaNa.
It’s been such a twist to see Peter transition fromThe Bachelorto a reality TV mastermind, and I’ve greatly enjoyed the ride so far and definitely didn’t see it coming. I think that Peter learned from his mistakes fromThe Traitors US, and he’ll bean even stronger competitor inDestination X.Unlike Tai, who alienated her alliance by lying too much, Peter has the perfect balance of strategy against his enemies and loyalty to his friends. If he continues on this path,I believe that Peter will winDestination X.
