Not too long ago, Blizzard used the officialOverwatchTwitter account to reveal newStorm Rising event legendary skinsfor the characters of Baptiste and Moira in the video game publisher and developer’s team-based first-person shooter. Now, the company has decided to give players a better idea of what they should expect out of the event itself by releasing an official trailer detailing the task players will be taking on in the new seasonal mission, Storm Rising.
When the PvE Storm Rising story mission forOverwatchgoes live, players will be going after the dangerous Talon criminal Maximilien amid an impending hurricane with a strike team composed of Tracer, Winston, Mercy, and Genji. The action occurs inOverwatch’stake on Havana, with previous pieces of lore having explained that the populace of Cuba’s capital city had encountered a series of nefarious events like the arson of a distillery, for example, which was likely caused by Talon.
Those who wish to take part inOverwatch’s Storm Rising event will be able to do so tomorrow, on Tuesday, August 08, 2025. Should some players not be able to experience it on the first day that it becomes available, the event will be active for some time thereafter, ending on July 27, 2025.
For the uninitiated, Storm Rising is a part of theOverwatchArchives series of events, which feature PvE co-op missions with an emphasis on story material. They often focus on younger versions of the characters before the disbanding of the Overwatch organization. The past Archives missions ofOverwatchUprisingandOverwatchRetribution should also be playable alongside Storm Rising.
Taking everything here into consideration, it’s great to see Blizzard continue to pump post-launch content intoOverwatchwell after the game became available back in 2016. That said, though, it will be interesting to see if the company ever decides on announcing a direct followup to the team-based shooter in the future.
Overwatchis available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
