In just a couple of days,Overwatchwill kick off its first major event of 2019 in the form of the Year of the Pig Lunar New Year event. In anticipation of this event, the officialOverwatchsocial media pages have been revealing a new epic-tier skin each day leading up to Lunar New Year’s January 24 start date.
The latest skins revealed for theYear of the Pig Lunar New Year eventare for Torbjorn and Reinhardt. Both skins give the heroes a decidedly younger look than they usually have, with the new Zhang Fei Torbjorn skin dying his hair black, adding some color to his cheeks, and removing the wrinkles on his aged face.
Similarly, Reinhardt’s Guan Yu skin also makes the character look much younger than usual. The new skin also features the tank-class hero without his helmet, only one of a handful of skins to do so. Meanwhile, the skin’s description on Twitter says Guan Yu Reinhardt will share his “wisdom on Capture the Flag traditions,” which seems to confirm speculation that the Year of the Pig will have a renewed focus on Capture the Flag, just like previous Lunar New Year events. However, it’s worth pointing out that Blizzard still has yet to provide many details about Lunar New Year 2019 beyond what new skins players will have a chance to unlock during the festivities.
Zhang Fei Torbjorn and Guan Yu Reinhardt join the likes ofLu Bu Reaperand Huang Zhong Hanzo as part of the new skins set to be added duringOverwatch’s Year of the Pig event. So far, the most popular skin appears to be the Lu Bu Reaper skin, though the other skins have also inspired plenty of fan art online.
There will be at least two more new skins revealed for Lunar New Year 2019, though who will get those skins remains to be seen. It would make sense for some newer characters, like Brigitte or Ashe, to get a new skin, and it would also make sense for Roadhog to get a new skin. It is the Year of the Pig after all, and Roadhog literally has a pig tattooed on his stomach.
Overwatchfans should keep an eye out for more new skins as they’re revealed over the next couple of days.
Overwatchis out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
