When it was released last year,Overwatch 2received some criticism for missing some features that were key to the original game, and a fan favorite one is set to return.Overwatch 2continued the legacy of its predecessor by carrying forward the hero roster, maps, and cosmetics that players have earned, and something else is about to be brought into the live service sequel.

ThoughOverwatch 2was similar to the initial game in offering an open beta in order to tie up loose ends and gauge what kind of server traffic it would be working with on launch, some things snuck through testing. Because Blizzard is known for checking fan feedback on what may be implemented with futureOverwatch 2updates, many players have voiced their pros and cons of the hero shooter. Based on this fan feedback,Overwatch 2has already been updated with numerous improvements, but a favorite feature has been mostly under the radar until now.

Blizzard recently confirmed through a community update called “Reflections onOverwatch 2” that the On Fire feature that theOverwatchcommunity has asked for will be returning. The fan-favorite feature was used inOverwatchto highlight players that were doing particularly well in a match, but there hasn’t been an equivalent forOverwatch 2players to keep track of their top-performing squad mates. Beyond a visual indicator that would light up the character’s portrait in the user interface,Overwatchheroeswould also comment that they were on fire, letting other players around them know just how well they were doing.

CountlessOverwatch 2players have expressedthat they want On Fire to return, and Blizzard has stated that it’s rebuilding it for the new system of the sequel. While it may not look the same inOverwatch 2as it did in the first game when implemented, the On Fire feature would presumably have a similar visible and audible indicator to at least notify the player of their impressive streaks. Given that Blizzard never gave an idea of when the feature could be introduced toOverwatch 2, it’s currently unclear which future update it may be included in.

Although someOverwatch 2players may anticipate that adding the On Fire marker to the game should be as simple as moving things around, the fresh system for the sequel could make things more difficult than that. With eachnewOverwatch 2seasonadding its own lineup of challenges and rewards, players may be most likely to see the adjustment with one of the big content drops.

Overwatch 2is available now for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
