Monster Hunter Wilds Has A Lot To Fix

Declining Player Numbers And Terrible PC Performance

The over 100 bug fixes come at a good time, as the game has been facing heavily declining player numbers andreview bombing on Steam, with itsPC performance being worse than ever. Many users have complained about no longer being able to boot up the game, and those who are able to play struggle to run it at a smooth frame rate. The constant crashes have been another common complaint, and PC performance has gotten worse since launch, despite already being less than stellar.

86% of reviews forMonster HunterWildsin the last 30 days have been negative on Steam.

Beyond merely the performance, many have complained about the lack of difficulty and end-game content, with user Gnoclaude worrying that “Monster Hunter might be dead’and thatWildshas “removed so much of what makes it a beloved series.” This is a common complaint echoed by user beji.kamote, who states that “Wilds sincerely worries me"as a'“veteran Monster Hunter player.“The community is unhappy with the PC performance and the lack of difficulty and depth to keep them interested for as long as expected with aMonster Huntertitle.

Monster Hunter Wilds Is On The Right Track

New Monsters Alleviate The Content Issue

With the new update, boththe Lagiacrus and Seregios will be added, providing more end-game content, andthe hope is that this large set of big fixes will greatly improve performance to allow players to at least boot the gameup again. These are the correct steps for Capcom, although many users have resigned to the idea of waiting an additional year or two for the game to marinade and be in an acceptable state. An additional hope is that the expansion and its G-Rank hunts can make up forWilds' lack of depth.

WhileMonster Hunter Wildslaunched well and performed amazingly with initial sales, that goodwill is largely gone, and Capcom is facing an uphill battle to appease its fanbase. Such poor performance on PC, especially months after release, is a major issue, although it is good to see Capcom attempt to repair this. If it continues on this track,Monster Hunter Wildswill hopefully soon be where it should be, rather than being a game earning the community’s ire.
