Outlander’s most magical character has been teased to return in season 8, and this gives me hope that Starz will fill in the story gap it created in season 7. As this Romantacy series comes to a close, several plotlines must be wrapped up, which is why I was surprised thatOutlanderintroduced a brand-new one at the end of season 7. The revelation that Faith Fraser, who was stillborn in season 2, might have somehow survived is rather significant. It’s a massive shift for the end of the series, so I wouldn’t have been surprised ifOutlandermaintained the mystery.
ThoughOutlanderseason 7 revealed that Faith might have lived, the writers may have no intention of definitively revealing whether it’s true. Claire’s intuition tells her that Fanny Pocock is her granddaughter, and that might just be the end of it. I have a suspicion that this mystery is simply meant to inspire Claire to explore her own magical healing powers, whichMaster Raymondtold her she possessed back in season 2.The 34-year gap between Faith’s stillbirth and Claire’sOutlanderseason 7 revelation may never be filled in, but a particular tease gives me hope.

Actor Dominique Pinon Teases His Character’s Return
Actor Dominique Pinon, who plays Master Raymond inOutlander, revealed that he will make an appearance once again in the upcoming season 8 (viaTele-loisirs). Pinon teased that his character would make “another mysterious reappearance, but not with Claire’s character.” This is rather intriguing. Though the fact that Master Raymond won’t meet with Claire again indicates that she will be on her own to find answers about Faith Fraser, itcould mean that audiences will get a look into the 34-year gap between the infant’s stillbirth and the day that Claire adopted Fanny Pocock.

If Faith Fraser really did survive way back inOutlanderseason 2, then Master Raymon had everything to do with it. The mysterious man had already magically healed Claire of the infection that was sure to kill her, so it can be assumed that he used these same abilities to revive the premature infant. The big question, however, is what Master Raymond did with the baby after he brought her back. He clearly didn’t return Faith to her mother, so he must have found someone else to raise her. Then,Master Raymond may have kept tabs on Faith as she grew up.
Through this magical character, we can learn everything we need to know about what happened to Faith during the years that everyone thought she was dead.
Pinon’s tease that his character will have another mysterious appearance with a character could be a hint that we will see some important flashback moments on screen inOutlanderseason 8. Master Raymond is a time traveler himself, with a mysterious power to guide other characters that share his ability. Through this magical character, we can learn everything we need to know about what happened to Faith during the years that everyone thought she was dead. Of course,Outlanderdoesn’t necessarily have to follow through in this regard.

Starz’s TV show has largely ignored Claire’s magical ability to heal, and this could be a problem going into season 8.TheOutlanderbooks dictate that Claire will have to pull off a magical miracle to save someone she loves, but it would be a challenge to include this in the series, as it would come out of nowhere.Outlanderneeded a way to quickly remind audiences about Claire’s magical abilities, and the Faith twist of season 7 was a good start.

However, her suspicions would remind her of the magical power that Master Raymond had used to heal her, thus inspiring her to finally practice and develop her own abilities. This could pay off at the climax ofOutlanderseason 8, when Claire heals someone she loves who is in need. Therefore, answers about Faith aren’t entirely necessary. Still,it would be much preferred ifOutlandertook the time to explore this story fully, and Master Raymond may be the key.
