Oscar Isaac, perhaps best known as hotshot pilotPoe DameroninStar Wars, has recently announced his intentions to develop his very own graphic novel with the help of Legendary Comics. Isaac will be working on the project alongside Jason Spire, which will be titledHead Wounds: Sparrow.

The original story is also being worked on by Bob Johnson and John Alvey, two of Isaac’s childhood friends, and has very personal origins. Bob Johnson originally created the main character during his battle with stage 4 non-Hodgkin lymphoma, and his experiences became part of the basis for the supernatural injury suffered by the main character.

Legendary Comics has released a short synopsis: “Leo Guidry is a bad person and an even worse cop. When he suffers a psychic head wound, his life on the edge slips into spiritual warfare. In a landscape of angels, devils, and everything in between, can a person utterly devoid of empathy find a way to overcome the forces of darkness that have infiltrated his reality?” The announcement also boasts the involvement of New York Time’s bestselling author Brian Buccellato and art by Christian Ward.

This move is yet another interesting project for Oscar Isaac, who has made a name for himself jumping from big movie to big movie in the past few years, showing up in critically acclaimed films likeEx Machinaand box office giants likeStar Wars. It’s an unexpected move to see him dive headfirst into a completely new medium, but given his track record for pursuing interesting stories,Head Wounds: Sparrowis likely something that fans and graphic novel enthusiasts should keep an eye on.

While the publisher has yet to announce an official release date, or much beyond the creators and synopsis, hopefully there will be more news of the project soon. In the meantime, Legendary Comics has published a teaser image for the graphic novel on its website, which declares that pre-order information will be made available soon. Until then, it seems readers will just have to wait patiently until the publisher and creators are ready to let them fully dive into the head of Leo Guidry.
