TheFBIuniverse is fully connected, and we know that the newFBIspinoff seriesCIAis going to be part of that universe. In fact, the show was initially going to join the franchise as a backdoor pilot inFBIseason 7. Meanwhile, we’ve seen plenty of appearances byFBIcharacters in each other’s shows.
Isobel Castille (Alana de la Garza) shows up inFBI: Most Wanted, but we also get the odd appearance from Jubal Valentine.Jubal appears inFBI: Internationalto send cases and information, whileNina Chase (Shantel VanSanten) cameos inFBIafter her move toFBI: Most Wanted.
WithCIAjust around the corner, there needs to be such a cameo to keep the shows connected. There’s one character that makes the most sense for this, and that’s Jeremy Sisto’s Jubal. In some excellent news,Sisto is more than happy to be involved with the new series.
Jubal Valentine Has To Appear In CIA (And Jeremy Sisto Is Interested)
Jubal Regularly Sends Information To Other FBI Teams
Out of all the characters inFBIseason 8, Jubal is the one who makes the most sense to appear inCIA.When he’s inFBI: International, it is to support Scott Forrester (Luke Kleintank) and then Remy Scott (Dylan McDermott),while also providing an occasional case to solve. This would be a great way to offer the new CIA-FBI team some cases.
The FBI will need to have something that must be a high-priority task, and by being in New York,it would make sense for Jubal to hand over a job that his field office can’t handle. We could also see Jubal in person presenting the tasks rather than via a video screen, which has been the case inFBI:International.
While he hasn’t gotten the call yet, he knows that Jubal would love to help the CIA in some way.
Sisto is also interested in seeingJubal inCIAfor a cameo or two, which opens the door for this to happen. While he hasn’t gotten the call yet, he knows that Jubal would love to help the CIA in some way. Jubal has always been open to working with other organizations, so we can see how he would be perfect for this.
Jubal Would Have Likely Been In The CIA Backdoor Pilot In FBI
CIA Was Supposed To Be A Backdoor Pilot
When it was originally conceived of,CIAwas going to be a backdoor pilot with the possibility of then being picked up as a series. However, casting issues led toFBIseason 7 pushing the backdoor pilot back by an episode until they got to the season finale(viayahoo.com). At that point, there was no room to make the pilot work.
Instead,CIAwent straight to becoming its own series, but there were still hints that a backdoor pilot was possible. WhentheFBIseason 7 finale synopsis mentioned that Jubal was working with a secret team, I thought it was going to be this CIA-FBI team.
In the end, that wasn’t the case, but it’s likely that Jubal was going to be involved in the team-up in some way with the original plan. This would have allowed him to form some sort of bond with the CIA’s Hart Hoxman (Tom Ellis), so as to continue with mini-crossover moments in theFBIspinoff.
