Summary
Warning: Spoilers for Dragonflight: Guardians of the Dream below.
During the conclusion of the Silver Purpose questline,World of Warcraftbrought back Grand Magistrix Elisande, a raid boss players defeated duringLegionsix years ago. Though the quest concluded with the revival of Tyr, it seems the Titan Keeper is not the only old character whoWorld of Warcrafthas plans for in the future.
ThroughoutDragonflightand its subsequent patches,World of Warcraftintroduced an important questline centered around bringing back Tyr, the Keeper responsible for empowering the Dragonflights, after his death thousands of years ago. Patch 10.2, Seeds of Renewal, sawthe climax of thisWoWquestline, culminating in the giant’s resurrection in the aftermath of Fyrakk’s defeat.
However, the quests leading up to Tyr’s revival brought back another character players never would have expected to see. During the sidequest, players go to an alternate timeline before Grand Magistrix Elisande, the former leader of the Nightbourne, was killed. Elisande is in possession of a disc needed to revive the Keeper, and the players must convince her to hand over the artifact. She agrees, citing she had already learned what she needed to know from it, and then departs through a portal, seemingly escaping fromthe alternateWorld of Warcrafttimelineand becoming an active player in the story once more.
Who is Grand Magistrix Elisande in World of Warcraft?
Elisande’s return toWorld of Warcraftcould be the sign of something big on the horizon. Some speculating fans believeWorld of Warcraftis planning on having her show up duringMidnight. The future expansion will feature a revamp of Quel’thalas, and given Thalyssra is now married to the leader of the Blood Elves who live there, Elisande would be an interesting player to add to the elf-centric storyline.
Midnightmay be the expansion afterThe War Within, butWorld of Warcraftrecently revealed it is already working on itvia parallel teams. Players are obviously looking forward toThe War Within, but some Elf fans are even more excited forMidnight. With the possibility of Elisande making a big return during the expansion, players have even more reason to look forward to the second chapter of the Worldsoul Saga.
