Sony has finally launched its ambitiousPlayStation Plusrevamp in North America, giving more gamers the chance to check out the new subscription tiers and everything they have to offer. For those who may not have been following along, Sony has made some big changes toPlayStation Plusin an effort to compete more directly with Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass subscription service. The jury is still out on whether Sony’s efforts will be successful or not, but the revamp has already suffered a big blow.
Thenew PS Plus tiersgive PlayStation 4 and 5 gamers three options to choose from: PS Plus Essential, PS Plus Extra, and PS Plus Premium. PS Plus Essential is vanilla PS Plus, giving players access to monthly free games, various discounts on the PlayStation Store, and online multiplayer. PS Plus Extra is the next step up, essentially combining the existing PlayStation Now service with PS Plus and adding some newer, higher profile games into the mix. PS Plus Premium is the priciest tier, and it gives users access to retro games, some of which come with enhancements to improve the experience for modern gamers.

It seems that combining PlayStation Now with PS Plus for thePS Plus Extra and Premium tiershas caused an exodus of games that were previously available to play through PlayStation Now. A list was compiled by PSN Profiles user starvar of over 200 games that are on the way out.

It’s also been confirmed that some of the other games included in the PS Plus Extra and Premium tiers will be leaving within the next few months. Namely,Rockstar Games’Red Dead Redemption 2andRed Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmareare expected to be removed on September 20. That’s disappointing news forRed Dead Redemptionfans, but at least there’s plenty of time to play those games before they’re removed.
