After what seems like forever, Bandai Namco Entertainment finally revealed the release ofDragon Ball Z: Kakarot’s first Super-themed DLC, “A Power Awakens (Part I: Whis' Training) is set to drop tomorrow, April 28. In the build up to this, a patch has released revealing changes to the time machine, anew loading screen for theDBZ: KakarotDLC, and more. The latest is perhaps the most informative, as new screenshots show how Vegeta obtains the Super Saiyan God form. Obviously, some may consider thisSPOILERmaterial for the upcoming DLC, so turn back now if wanting to experience it fresh.
For context, many fans ofDragon Ball Z: Kakarotwere surprised when SSG Vegeta was revealed, namely because he comes much later in both the anime and manga. In theDragon Ball Supermanga, Vegeta first shows the form when fighting Goku Black, whereas in the anime, he uses first against Broly in theDBS: Brolymovie. Many thought that Vegeta just skipped Super Saiyan God and went straight to Super Saiyan Blue, sort of how he does by skipping SS3 for SS4 inDragon Ball GT.

It was eventually revealed that he was taught the form by Whis, which many assumed include extensive training. New screenshots, however, show that Whis summons Gohan, Goten, Trunks (kid), and Future Trunks to his Beerus' Planet. There, they complete the Super Saiyan God Ritual, something many thought theDBZ: KakarotDLC would bypass, in order forVegeta to obtain his Super Saiyan God form. Notably, this isn’t canon and is likely a “rule of cool” for the DLC to add Vegeta early.
Of course, the first thing that SSG Vegeta does is seemingly challenge Beerus. Reports indicate that, even in this new form, theBeerus Boss Battle is incredibly tough.
Fans don’t have to wait much longer to give SSG Vegeta a spin, and while there was a lot of scrutiny over this being a"Boss Battle Episode” inDBZ: Kakarot, it seems that there will be more involved than first met the eye.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarotis out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
